Saptak
Saptak is the collective name for the 7 notes. Saptak is in to 3 types,namely:
1. Mandra sapthak
2. Madya sapthak
A collection of notes that can produce ragas is called a Thata or Mela. There are ten (10) hats is north indian music . They are given below: /
1. Kalyan - S ,R ,G , M ,P,D , N

3. Khamaj - S, R ,G ,M ,P ,D ,N

4. Kafi - S ,R ,G ,M ,P ,D ,N

A that should have the following facts :
(1). A that mut have all the seven notes.
(2). It should be in the ascending order.
EX: The two forms of each notes
(3). The two forms of each swara .
EX:Komal and Teevra form can come one after the other in that.
(4). A that need not please he listner. It need not be sweet like a raga.
(5). A that is named after the chief ashraya raga produced by it.
EX: Bhairav that is named after it's chief raga Bhairava.
